OUR STORY
THE BEGINNING...
Was established in the U.K. in April 1975. The first few years saw a number of development projects in Central and South America for clients such as Costain, Mocol, Redpath, etc. In parallel, voyage repair and retrofit projects were undertaken for clients including Shell, Denholm, BP, Texaco, V-Ships, etc.
The company acquired Hydraulics & Pneumatics Ltd in 1981 and saw continued development of business in the Far East (Japan, South Korea and Taiwan). The controls business, by then known as BENMAR, was acquired by VFP Fluid Power in 1984.
WHERE WE’VE BEEN...
A Spanish company (Burnison Engineering S.A.) was established in 1987 and projects were undertaken with the ASTANO shipyard in ballast and stability systems for the semi-submersible MODU – “Drillmar 1”, which was followed by the electrical and automation engineering for new build FPSO “Gryphon-A”. Expertise developed on the Gryphon-A project provided the basis for Turret control systems for North Sea based FPSO’s “Texaco Captain” and “Global Producer-111”. BESA was transferred to other ownership in 1996.
From 1993, the Company provided technical and commercial management services at the ASTANDER shipyard culminating in the lengthening and conversion of the DFDS Ro-Ro Ferry “Dana-Maxima” in 1996. Between 1997 and 2003 a number of electro-hydraulic valve control and pipeline emergency shut-down systems were delivered from local affiliate, AVECO, to installations in Venezuela. Measurement services were initiated in 1996 in Venezuela which resulted in the establishment of a joint venture company, with METCO Services in 1998.
Over the last 20 years specialist projects continue to be undertaken specifically in USA, Mexico, Venezuela, and Qatar. Roger Burnison (RAB), was seconded to Emerson Process Management in Brazil at the beginning of 2004 as Project Director of the Marlim Measurement Upgrade Project in the Campos Basin for Petrobras. This project was substantially completed at the end of 2007 since when the company has continued to provide consultancy services in Engineering, Measurement and Project Management to clients around the World. RAB has been directly involves in the development and compliance on the regulations in the measurement in Venezuela (1997-2000); in Brasil (ANP 2003-2007); Mexico (CNH 2011-2016) and in Colombia (ANH 2014).
The US Company was established in February 2010 and is located in Friendswood, Texas, just south of Houston. This provides an ideal center as many international clients have offices in Houston. Connections to other countries are readily available.
THE PRESENT...
Taking advantage of the experienced gathered from several years of work throughout Central and South America, the company also facilitates communications, business consulting and local promotion for customers interested in business development in the American continent. Tasks undertaken from Texas include:

Consultancy for overseas governmental entities in Oil & Gas, specifically in the regulation and supervision of hydrocarbon measurement

Investigative studies of measurement installations in the USA, Mexico, and Colombia.

Overseas Marketing Support and Graphic Design.
In 2017, RAB joined Schlumberger to develop and manage the 3Q activities in SLB; support services, spare parts location & delivery continue to be provided by Burnison Engineering LLC as required.
